A new nationwide poll shows strong opposition to the idea of Donald Trump pursuing a third presidential term. The majority of respondents, including a substantial portion of Republicans, voiced disapproval of any attempt to extend his presidency beyond the two-term limit.
The concept, though floated casually in recent remarks by Trump, directly challenges the constitutional cap on presidential terms. Under current law, no president can serve more than two elected terms, a safeguard established to prevent long-term executive power.
According to the poll, nearly three-quarters of voters oppose the notion outright. Among Republican respondents, more than half expressed similar concerns, signaling a bipartisan consensus on upholding the constitutional boundaries of the presidency.
While some political figures have speculated on potential loopholes or strategies to challenge the existing rule, legal experts maintain that any effort to change term limits would require a formal constitutional amendment—a process both lengthy and politically demanding.
The polling results reflect a clear message from the public: two terms is enough.
