Entertainment mogul David Geffen, 82, has filed for divorce from his 32-year-old husband, David Armstrong, after nearly two years of marriage—without a prenuptial agreement in place.
Geffen and Armstrong tied the knot in 2023 after meeting in 2020, when Armstrong worked as Geffen’s personal trainer. Armstrong, known previously by his stage name Donovan Michaels, had worked as a go-go dancer before the marriage. The divorce petition cites irreconcilable differences.
While the lack of a prenup has stirred speculation, legal experts note that California law considers Geffen’s extensive pre-marital fortune—including his business investments and real estate assets—as separate property. Geffen’s wealth, estimated in the billions, was largely accumulated before the marriage and during his lengthy retirement from active business operations.
Under California’s spousal support rules, Armstrong is eligible for alimony for half the duration of the marriage—approximately one year. Geffen has also agreed to pay Armstrong’s legal fees as part of the proceedings.
The divorce is being handled by celebrity attorney Laura Wasser and has drawn public attention not only due to Geffen’s immense fortune but also the couple’s 50-year age gap and high-profile lifestyle.
