Smollett received a prison term of 150 days plus probation.
Actor Jussie Smollett reportedly hired two brothers to stage a hate crime hoax, and they reportedly wanted to send a message to the country about the “ramifications” of their actions.
The Osundairo brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo, known as Bola and Ola, have apologized for their part in the 2019 hoax and said that they agreed to Smollett’s requirements because they hoped to benefit from his status as a well-known actor.
“Before I say anything further, I want to apologize to everyone in the room, the nation, and everyone who may have been personally harmed. Thursday on “Hannity,” Ola Osundairo said, “When we were invited to participate, we didn’t anticipate the consequences of what something like this might do to the country.”
To paraphrase, “We let our ambition get the best of us.”
Smollett allegedly made an effort to portray Trump fans as racist and homophobic to advance his career as a Black homosexual actor. When asked about what happened, he first claimed White “attackers” hurled racist slurs and “this is MAGA land” at him while beating him and tying a rope around his neck.
Gloria Rodriguez, the brothers’ lawyer, claimed that upon hearing the details of the event, she immediately suspected the brothers’ innocence.
“It didn’t seem to me at first that this was a major story that needed to be shared with the world. The first thing that went through my mind was, “Oh, my God, I have two innocent individuals here that are being accused of perpetrating this awful hate crime,” “the woman declared.
“Instead of jumping to conclusions like a lot of the reporters covering this story did, my initial inclination was to gather information. And on the very same night that I met them, I went alone, having to break plans with my wife and saying, “I’ve got to go down to the scene of the crime.” And as I surveyed my surroundings, I had the sudden realization that night had fallen, the hour was late, and I was alone. No one can harm you there. To think that something like this might occur is just ludicrous.”
The Osundairo brothers insist they did whatever they did that night at Smollett’s request.
Fox Nation’s “Jussie Smollett: Anatomy of a Fake” features a tour of Chicago and the phony “crime” scene as narrated by the brothers.
Smollett allegedly instructed the brothers to assault him at 2 a.m. in the streets, as recounted by the brothers.
They outlined how they pretended to call him out, chase him down, punch and tackle him, and even throw a “to “give him a scar,” or “nuggie,” figuratively. To grade him. Thus it would appear as though he had gotten his a** kicked.”
During a nearly two-week trial in 2021, Smollett was found guilty of five of the six disorderly behavior charges against him.
He was given a sentence of 150 days in prison and 30 months of probation for the event, but he was freed from jail six days in so that he could file an appeal.
