Courtney Love Gave Women A Warning About Weinstein in 2005 [Video]

As strange as this may sound, Courtney Love may be one to listen to in situations like this.

Love made her fame in the music scene during the rise of “grunge” music, popularized by several bands from Seattle getting signed. Her band, Hole, had a few hits and she eventually married the frontman for the legendary band Nirvana.

Later, she tried her hand at acting landing a few gigs on some well-known films such as The People vs. Larry Flynt, which she was surprisingly praised for, as well as Man on the Moon opposite Jim Carrey.

Someone at TMZ managed to dig up a clip from 2005, during the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson, where the interviewer asked love if she had any advice to give young girls moving to Hollywood… and despite a warning, she laid it on the line.

    LOVE: Hi, Comedy Central.

REPORTER: Do you have any advice for a young girl moving to Hollywood?

LOVE: Um…I’ll get libeled if I say it. If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a private party in the four seasons, don’t go.

Though her post-Cobain life has been riddled with some controversy as well as conspiracy theories there’s no doubt Courtney Love’s impact on the music scene in the 90s and beyond was felt, having a major influence on the women of rock n roll since then.

In The Electric Guitar: A History of an American Icon, it is noted:

[Love] truly lived up to Paul Westerberg’s (The Replacements) assessment of pretty girls ‘playing makeup/wearing guitar’ … She frequently stood on stage, microphone in hand and foot on monitor, and simply let her Fender guitar dangle around her neck. She truly embodied the empowerment that came with playing the electric guitar … Love depended heavily upon her male lead guitar foil Eric Erlandson, but the rest of her band remained exclusively female throughout several lineup changes.

Sure, she’s a whack-a-doo Liberal but… she’s one of the few (see Corey Feldman) who called back some of the Hollywood b.s. even back in the day.
