As most Americans all over the country attempt to take steps to get past the pandemic and its lockdowns, the top health official for President Joe Biden has rushed to the forefront to sound the alarm that the new variants of the COVID-19 virus would end up resurfacing and surge across the country towards the end of the year.
“Come the fall and winter,” started Xavier Becerra, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), to one reporter. “Most everyone who is an expert on pandemics and these viruses will tell you that there’s a strong chance we will see a resurgence of the virus — whether it’s the variants that we have now or the new variants.”
“We gotta be ready,” he explained grimly.
After labeling the task of ending the pandemic as his main priority when he took his role within the HHS, Becerra reinstated the Public Health Emergency Order back on the 12th of April for another 3 months with a new expiration date set at the 15th of July, which is just around the corner.
Despite these claims, it was reported by Bloomberg News that the Biden Administration would be choosing to push back the COVID emergency health orders due to the fact that HHS failed to issue a full 60-day notice to the states since the most recent renewal, which the department pledged to do if it chose to cancel the orders.
Since he took over the role just after Biden took office last year, Becerra has issued extensions five times to the public health emergency order.
Becerra’s most recent comment was shared by the Republican National Committee who went further to add that there had been a promise from the Biden Administration to shut down the virus.
“But it was all a lie.” explained the committee.
Many users on Twitter flocked to the post with comments claiming that the so-called resurgences would stem from the “midterm variant,” as Becerra seemed to claim that the spike would most likely land right before the 2022 Midterm elections slated for this November.
These COVID concerns seemed to crop up the same day that the legacy media circulated reports that many scientists were trying to warn Americans of a new mutated coronavirus that was making its way across India and other countries, which included the United States.
It was reported by the Associated Press that these scientists have stated that the new variant, labeled BA.2.75, may pass through immunity, previous infections, and all vaccines. Despite this, the effects of the new mutation still remain unclear.
“It’s still really early for us to draw too many conclusions,” explained the director of clinical virology from the Mayo Clinic out in Rochester, Minnesota, Matthew Binnicker, expressed the Associated Press. “But it does look like, especially in India, the rates of transmission are showing kind of that exponential increase.”
Despite everything taking place, a recent survey from the Senate Opportunity Fund seemed to suggest that only about 21% of Americans thought COVID was a lead concern.
