The 16-year-old suspect in the shooting deaths of three people at an El Paso mall was shot, according to Texas law enforcement this week. The mall’s shooter was a lawfully armed customer.
The suspected Hispanic guy has been identified as 17-year-old Angeles Zaragoza’s killer and the attacker of two other Hispanic males, ages 20 and 17. Police said that 32-year-old Emmanuel Duran opened fire on the suspected gunman as he fled the scene.
The suspect, a 16-year-old boy, started running as soon as the gunfire stopped, aiming the weapon toward onlookers like Licensed to Carry Holder Emmanuel Duran, 32. According to the El Paso Police Department, “when the suspect raced toward Duran and others, Duran grabbed his weapon and shot the offender.”
Police said the suspect is in stable condition at the hospital where he was brought after Duran and another off-duty officer “provided help” to him after he was shot.
According to their research, Duran, who was reported as a victim, has been helping the police.
The incident happened on a Wednesday evening at the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso. According to the police, a “confrontation” between two groups at the food court sparked the violence.
Sgt. Robert Gomez of the police department has stated that murder charges are likely to be filed against the suspect. As one person is now dead, the proper accusation would be murder. He told reporters, “Until he is officially charged, he is simply a suspect, and so are the other suspects who were hurt by gunshot. The appropriate prosecution, in this case, would be aggravated assault.
According to Gomez, the distressing occurrence included a stolen pistol.
There should always be cause for alarm when a 16-year-old in possession of a stolen firearm opens fire in a busy shopping center. He described it as “extremely alarming, quite distressing.”
Another mall shooter was stopped by a civilian with a pistol when 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken shot a guy who had attempted to shoot up an Indiana mall. From a distance of around 40 yards, and in about 15 seconds, Dicken fired 10 bullets from a 9mm Glock handgun, striking the shooter eight times.
As a result of his actions, Dicken was hailed as a hero and credited by the police with preventing several deaths.
