Governor Ron DeSantis has spoken in favor of “woke” education and critical race theory.
On Friday, Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) will bring a “care package” to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, which will contain a copy of “White Fragility” by Robin DiAngelo.

Bowman reported that the care packages contained copies of “How to be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi and “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk about Racism” by Robin DiAngelo.
“Anger manifests itself through yelling at the screen. Your anger and frustration will cause you to throw it across the room. Don’t pay any attention to that nut job!” I’m referring to Bowman’s comments here.
“clean your office and your mind of all the strain that is happening there,” Bowman said in the letter included in the care box. There was also a children’s book titled “How to be Good” in the package.

A law enacted by DeSantis this year shows his stance towards so-called “woke” schooling. DeSantis defines “woke” education as teaching that suggests differences in treatment depending on characteristics such as race, color, sex, or nationality.
As the president has indicated, it is not the goal of his administration to prevent people from talking about slavery and other tragedies in African-American history. Instead, he said, it was pushing computer-centric teaching methods.
Florida’s move in January to withdraw an AP African American Studies course received international attention for the claimed justification that it violated the Constitution and was unhelpful. Students in the “African American Studies: Movements and Methodologies” course learned about “the notion of the queer of color criticism, anchored in Black feminism and intersectionality, as a Black studies lens that moves sexuality studies toward racial analysis” in the “Black Queer Studies” lesson. The College Board has raised the bar for university admissions.
“Consequently, I was wondering whether you would be willing to share some of the insights you gained while researching the history of African Americans. The topic of queer theory is explored. This raises the question of who, if anyone, continues to insist that queer theory is a necessary component of Afro-American studies. This is why they are making such an effort to win over the people.” At the start of the year, DeSantis voiced numerous opinions.
Simply put, Bowman doubted the strategy’s feasibility and said as much.
He blamed himself for being more vulnerable to colonialism and tyranny at the hands of the same people who had oppressed his ancestors because he had forgotten their history.
After saying this, he said, “Inquiring into my family history is something I’m quite interested in doing. Asian, Southeast Asian, Japanese, and Chinese history, as well as that of the Arab-Muslim world, the Jewish people, Italy, and Ireland, pique my interest.”
The next stop is at the post office when he sends the package to his address in Florida.
