The extremely rapid rise to the top of the Republican Party for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shows no indication of slowing down at all as he has now managed to beat out former President Donald Trump in fundraising efforts by an almost eight-figure amount over the course of the first half of the year.
The fundraising effort for Trump fell off drastically throughout the first half of this year, ending at only $36 million, marking the first six-month period since leaving the oval office in which he was not able to obtain $50 million over the span of the six months.
DeSantis was able to raise $45 million in the same time frame of this past six months, a $9 million difference over the former president. Back in April, DeSantis had already managed to gather well over $100 million for his re-election efforts in Florida, which was highlighted by CNN to have made him the first gubernatorial candidate in history “to reach the nine-figure milestone solely through donations.”
The report from CNN also highlighted that not only does the massive sum show a strong message to the opposing Democrats throughout the state but it also puts many other Republicans, who may have been looking into a potential 2024 run, on notice.
It was reported by NBC News that DeSantis now has “an unprecedented $130 million war chest.” DeSantis has also recently been highlighted as a good presidential candidate by podcasting titan Jor Rogan along with billionaire Elon Musk.
Musk, who claimed that it is high time for Trump to make his way out of politics entirely, stated that “if DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign.”
Scott Walker, the former Republican governor of Wisconsin, stated that DeSantis was a popular and frequent topic of conversation throughout a recent cruise that was taken with other conservatives.
“The name I hear most frequently talking to people is Ron DeSantis,” stated Walker. “What they said to me all the time is, they feel like DeSantis has the kind of guts, the same kind of backbone as Trump, but is the newer, younger, fresher version. That’s what I hear repeatedly.”
One member of the Republican National Committee out fo Florida, Peter Feaman, stated that DeSantis has much more appeal with Republican voters than any other Republican that he has ever seen, which includes former Governors Rick Scott and Jeb Bush.
“I’ve never seen someone more popular with Republicans,” he explained. “It’s amazing.”
As we have seen recently, DeSantis manages to pull victories on issues that many other Republicans have struggled with for ages, including education, and that has been reported via a recent poll conducted by a teachers union that stands against DeSantis.
It was reported by NBC News that the poll for the American Federation of Teachers, which was carried out by the Democrat-leaning firm Hart Research, discovered that many voters in swing states are showing approval of DeSantis’s positions and his rhetoric and that DeSantis was very smart at where he sets his battle lines.
