The “daily drama” of the Trump administration, DeSantis adds, has returned.
He joked about the “Ron DeSanctimonious” insult in an interview.
It appears as news outlets report that former President Trump may be prosecuted shortly.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently gave an interview in which he made some veiled criticisms of the “daily drama” in the Trump White House. He ignored the former president’s pointed critique and instead focused on the ‘underlying conduct’ of the Stormy Daniels ‘hush money agreement.
In what might be a preview of the blockbuster 2024 Republican primary race, DeSantis elaborated on the fundamental shortcomings of his prospective presidential opponent while simultaneously hailing his outstanding reelection victory and portraying himself as supporting policy “victories” over “chaos.”
I also feel, just in terms of my style of leadership, I have individuals in government that have the agenda of the people and share our purpose,” he told Piers Morgan during a sit-down interview at the Florida governor’s mansion.
And on the same day that Trump ally Steve Bannon criticized DeSantis for his “weasel approach” in bringing up the porn star at the center of the inquiry into possible criminal charges against Trump, the reaction began.
If you bring any more ideas into this building, you will be asked to leave. That’s not something we can accept. When it comes to running the government, DeSantis says it’s vital to keep a steady eye on the big picture while also achieving tangible accomplishments.
Trump’s base of followers was furious. What Ron DeSantis says he isn’t is the person he professes to be. He was labeled “an establishment Never Trumper who despises the MAGA base and was faking it the whole time” by Trump aide Jason Miller in a tweet.
Asked about Trump’s derogatory nickname for him, “Ron DeSanctimonious,” DeSantis said that he was “fine” with it, even though the Ivy League-educated, the ex-Navy lawyer claimed he was unaware of the term’s meaning.
A good description of the sanctimonious one eludes me at the moment. I can’t figure out what it means, but I like the term anyhow. This word is rather long and has a large number of vowels. In any case, that’s OK with us, and we’re willing to accept it.
He then turned the tables on Trump, saying, “You can call me anything you want, just as long as you also call me a winner.” This was about the fact that they had been able to “put a lot of points on the board” and “move this State to the next level” in Florida.
Trump has ignored the increasing frequency of the daily blasts despite his large lead in the polls over DeSantis and other potential challengers.
To my ears, the sounds are background. I don’t have time to get into an online fight right now. Trump’s Twitter spats in front of millions of followers are “doing nothing for the folks I serve,” he continued.
