A violent attack in Wahiawa, Hawaii, involving a group of teenagers assaulting a 21-year-old disabled woman has triggered public outrage after footage of the incident went viral.
The victim, Carly, who has an intellectual disability, was ambushed at a bus stop. The confrontation began when two teens started mocking her before 18-year-old Jasmine Keola escalated the situation by knocking off Carly’s glasses and throwing her belongings. As Carly attempted to get away, she was followed and repeatedly punched and kicked by the group, who hurled insults during the assault.
The video spread rapidly on social media, prompting local residents to identify the suspects. Some even livestreamed their efforts to locate the teens. Police later arrested four individuals, aged 13 to 18.
Despite the arrests, the suspects were released and charges were dismissed. In court, Keola claimed she was pressured into the attack and issued an apology. Her mother also publicly apologized.
