A Long Island mother has filed a $2 million lawsuit against Disney after suffering serious injuries from a powerful wave at Typhoon Lagoon. The incident took place in April 2022 while she was retrieving her 3-year-old daughter from a children’s water slide.
According to the lawsuit, a sudden and forceful wave struck the woman, dragging her across a cement surface and leaving her legs deeply scraped and permanently scarred. She claims the traumatic event also left her young children emotionally shaken and disrupted their family vacation.
The woman’s husband emphasized that her quick actions likely prevented their daughter from sustaining similar injuries. The family alleges Disney was negligent for allowing such strong waves in an area designated for young children and stated that the company initially offered only a $250 credit as compensation.
The lawsuit follows other reported injuries at Typhoon Lagoon, including a visitor who lost consciousness on a water slide and another who suffered internal injuries.
