He says Bill’s political knowledge and reputation were wasted on Hillary’s 2016 campaign.
On Fox News, the 45th president said that he wasn’t always the most public political opponent of Bill and Hillary Clinton. This might be the case right now.
Trump stated on “Life, Liberty & Levin” that he and the 42nd president and his wife used to be excellent friends and frequently corresponded with one another through letter writing.
Trump stated, “They came to my wedding,” alluding to the 2005 ceremony he held with Melania Knauss, which was attended by Bill and Hillary Clinton. Liberal critic Chris Matthews was there, along with other notable New Yorkers including Billy Joel, Tony Bennett, and Republicans George Pataki and Rudy Giuliani.
Clinton, he said, was a regular at Trump National Golf Club Westchester.
The class was a lot of fun for him. He made regular trips there. It was fantastic in his opinion. Most people grossly underestimate his golfing prowess. The truth is out there: he’s a fantastic athlete.
Trump recalls spending up to 2.5 hours talking politics with the 42nd president after their round of golf.
He added, “To be honest, I hadn’t given politics any thought.
Trump suggested that Bill Clinton’s image as a “retail politician” and his political savvy may have contributed to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss.
It was a major error on my part not to use him during my campaign against Hillary. He went on to say that Bill Clinton was “born to be a leader,” calling him “an incredible tool” for the Democratic Party.
In 2016, Trump said Hillary Clinton ignored Wisconsin because she thought she had already won the state. She didn’t make her final campaign stop in Michigan either.
Bill Clinton, he added, had visited Michigan and seen Trump-Pence banners “everywhere,” and he had told Hillary Clinton’s campaign that the two states were essential.
Despite the oddsmakers’ predictions to the contrary, I was successful in both Michigan and Wisconsin.
Because Clinton is not campaigning, Trump claimed the campaign “really messed up” by not using such a well-known American icon.
They could have used [President Clinton] as a weapon, but they chose not to. In fact, they accomplished the exact opposite. They turned him away at the door. The decision to turn him away was incorrect.
There were a few primary and campaign-related events that Bill Clinton attended. As an illustration, he went to a town hall event where Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were both present; Trump had brought Juanita Broaddrick, Paula Jones, and Kathleen Willey as special guests. Three women have come forward to allege sexual misconduct on the part of Hillary’s husband.
He embarked on a campaign tour with Hillary in 2008. At one of the earliest Iowa gatherings, he was overheard saying, “If she asked me, I’d be here tonight, even if we weren’t married.”
