Vivek Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur and a Republican candidate for president in 2024. He has made it clear that he doesn’t like the idea of Trump being charged with a crime.
If Trump was charged with anything, it would be terrible for the whole country. Ramaswamy tweeted on a Saturday that it is “un-American” for the ruling party to use the police to round up people who disagree with them politically.
He was surprised by how quickly he could remember that a similar argument had been made in 2004 when John Kerry was the Democratic nominee for president and George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were elected.
In 2004, when Bush and Cheney were in office, Ramaswamy said, “Liberals would have cried, and rightly so if a Republican prosecutor had used a technicality about campaign funding to arrest John Kerry, who was then a candidate.” I care more about my values than I do about my party.
Sources say that Trump could be charged as soon as next week because Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is looking into hush money payments to former pornstar Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election season.
It’s rare for a former president of the United States to get in trouble with the law. Trump says that he is being investigated unfairly because of his politics. So, he told his followers to leave right away.
Ramaswamy, who calls himself “CEO of Anti-Woke Inc.,” said in February that he was running for president. Because traditional values like religion, patriotism, and family are becoming less important, the multimillionaire businessman and author has made solving a “national identity crisis” his main goal.
Early polls for the 2024 Republican presidential primaries put Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at the top. But Republican candidates who are running now or might run in the future have spoken out against an indictment that would clear the way for the election.
If you ask me, that’s a sign of bias. Former Vice President Mike Pence told ABC News, “I don’t think that’s what the American people want to see.”
Ramaswamy says that the people should “decide who leads” the country, not the prosecutor.
People will lose faith in our government because of things like this, and it will be a low point in our country’s history. Ramaswamy asked Manhattan’s top prosecutor to change their plan and put partisan politics aside to protect the Constitutional republic they had sworn to protect.
At the end of his speech, he said, “Attorneys should use the same standards they use in other situations. If this had happened differently, it wouldn’t have been against the law (just a misdemeanor). Not. Because of how politics are going in the country right now, the justice system can’t be made political.
