Just days after Twitter’s CEO Elon Musk publicly mocked him, Massachusetts Democrat Sen. Ed Markey doubled down on his threat.
As previously reported by Townhall, Markey authorized a Washington Post reporter to pose as him on the platform in order to draw attention to the flaws in the firm’s new premium service, which, among other things, grants $8 monthly subscribers a blue check mark. After firing off an angry letter demanding an explanation from the billionaire, Musk fired back with a few jabs of his own.
The senator took offense and issued a threat in response.
He’s increasing his bet. While speaking to MSNBC, Markey warned that if “guardrails” aren’t installed at the social media company, Twitter “will pay the price…”
Critics have pointed fingers at Markey and other Democratic legislators like him.
