Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, warned on Friday that the firm would suffer “severe harm” if the app were removed from the app stores of Apple and Google.
On Twitter, political journalist Liz Wheeler said that Musk would make his smartphone if Apple and Google removed Twitter from their app stores.
“Half of the country would gleefully forsake the biased, spying iPhone & Android,” I shot back. Surely, if he can construct rockets that can reach Mars, he can put together a simple smartphone.
I hope it doesn’t come to that,” Musk has said, “but if there’s no other choice, I’ll develop an alternate phone.”
I hope it doesn’t have to come to that, but if it’s that or making a brand new phone, I’ll have to do it.
Musk’s remarks address the growing chorus of marketers and left-wing activists demanding that “hate speech” be muzzled.
This week, in response to the pressure campaign, Musk stated that the firm had taken measures to discourage hate speech within the corporation.
Musk claims that the number of people hearing hate speech has decreased by one-third since its zenith. Well done, Twitter.
Despite wanting to penalize the 1,500 accounts, he holds responsible for the rise, Musk refrains. It’s a good thing that the daily tweet limit is lower than the utmost pace at which a speed typist on drugs could type.
The host of DailyWire+, Jordan Peterson, pressed Musk for a definition of “hate speech,” and he provided one.
“This is based on the same list of terms that Twitter has used for some time, so ceteris paribus,” Musk said in response.
Twitter has used the same terminology for quite some time, so it’s safe to expect that it will continue to do so.
Musk also declared Thursday that accounts with earlier bans will be reinstated.
Musk made this call after tallying votes in a Twitter poll he launched on Wednesday. Due to the findings, he said that the platform would begin mass unbanning accounts the next week, with the exception of those that had been suspended for unlawful activity or heavy spam.
More than three million people participated in the study, the vast majority of whom favored amnesty (72.4 percent to 27.2 percent).
As soon as the poll was closed, Musk just stated, “The people have spoken.” The amnesty period will start early next week. Equally Important to God and the People
Musk seems to indicate toward the conclusion of the vote that the platform may dramatically weaken content management to crack down on illicit material and boost transparency.
