The man who claims to have developed email is intense competition if you want to succeed Elon Musk as Twitter’s CEO.
Shiva Ayyadurai, a genius from MIT who is frequently credited with inventing electronic mail, applied for the position through Twitter on Saturday. Musk, who has been in charge of Twitter since he purchased it for $44 billion in October, has announced that he will stand aside in response to a poll that suggests people want a new leader.
To Elon Musk: “Dear Mr. Musk, Ayyadurai expressed his interest in becoming Twitter’s next CEO in a tweet. “I have founded seven profitable high-tech software firms and hold four MIT degrees. Please let me know how to go about applying.
Sincerely, Invention of Email Credited to Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai of MIT.
As a teenager in 1982, Ayyadurai claimed the copyright for an application he developed and claimed to have created email. He settled out of court with Gawker and the other site for opposing his allegation. Ayyadurai, 59 years old and a Republican, has twice attempted to run for the Senate in Massachusetts but has been unsuccessful. He is a vocal opponent of the COVID vaccinations and has demanded the resignation of Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
57.5% of Twitter users in a survey that Musk commissioned on December 18 said he should replace himself, prompting Musk to announce his resignation. The network has undergone several modifications since Musk took control. He has also disclosed damaging internal letters from before his takeover that reveals how Twitter collaborated with government organizations like the FBI to block conservatives.
Musk stated last week that after he hires a new CEO, he would shift his attention to the company’s software and hardware.
With the tweet, “I will quit as CEO as soon as I find someone dumb enough to take the job,” he made it clear that he was done with his position as CEO. After that, my responsibilities will be limited to managing the software and server teams.
Some have speculated that Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who resigned as CEO in November 2021, may return to fill the high-profile position. Besides Musk and Kushner, other candidates that have been bandied about include former Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg, engineer and close Musk colleague Sriram Krishnan, and Jared Kushner.
The key is not finding a CEO but instead finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive, as Musk put it in a tweet last week. Be cautious about what you wish for, for you might get it.
