Former Democratic policy adviser Dan Turrentine sharply criticized recent calls for President Trump’s impeachment over the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, describing them as reflective of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Turrentine, who served in the Clinton and Jared Polis administrations, argued the military strikes—which he classified as a “limited exercise”—did not rise to a level warranting impeachment. He emphasized that the action was executed within constitutional and legal parameters, akin to previous military decisions made by other presidents.
He urged his party to acknowledge the operation’s success, commend the returning service members, and pursue congressional oversight geared toward future policy rather than retroactive punitive actions. His stance positions him against progressive Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who called the strikes “unconstitutional” and labeled them grounds for impeachment.
