This past Monday, the U.S. Senate managed to rocket through a piece of legislation that sets in place protections for the families of Supreme Court Justices due to extreme left-wing protesting resulting from a leaked early draft of a majority opinion that at first glance seems to indicate that SCOTUS may be planning to overturn Roe v. Wade.

This new piece of legislation, which was spearheaded by Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), slid through with zero objections whatsoever, stated a report from ABC News. This new legislation would allow the nine sitting justices to have the same security protections that is currently available to members of both the executive and legislative branches.

“Trying to scare federal judges into ruling a certain way is far outside the bounds of normal First Amendment speech or protest,” stated enate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) headed into the vote, reported ABC.

Ever since the leak became public knowledge, many groups of extreme left-wing protesters have taken to showing up at the personal residences of Justice Samuel Alito, who authored the draft that was talking about the overturning of the ruling from 1973 that claimed the Fourteenth Amendment has a “right to privacy” permitting abortion, along with his colleagues.

Ruth Sent Us, a pro-abortion rights group, put forth information doxing six conservative members sitting on the Supreme Court, reportedly posting their personal info and home addresses online and then sounding the call for people to protest at their homes. Despite these scare and strongarm tactics being used by left-wing protesters, the majority decision coming down from the Supreme Court concerning changes to Roe still seems to remain entirely intact.

Both top Democratic and Republican figureheads have taken the time to put out their own statements in regard to the protests.

This past Sunday, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released a statement that indicated that he had zero patience for these protesters who choose to rush the private neighborhoods in order to stake out and harass the homes of the justices.

“We can’t tolerate intimidation as a political tool It’s 1 thing to peacefully demonstrate & another to undermine institutions like SCOTUS+harass justices at home bc of a decision u might not like And ANYONE making threats of violence should be arrested & prosecuted,” stated Grassley in a tweet.

All the while, President Joe Biden has been catching flak from various critics because of his middling initial response to both the leaking of secret government documents and to the pro-abortion rights protesters who are currently protesting and harassing the homes of the conservative SCOTUS members.

“I don’t have an official U.S. Government position on where people protest,” stated White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki as part of a press briefing. “I want it — we want it of course to be peaceful. … I think we shouldn’t lose the point here: The reason people are protesting is because women across the country are worried about their fundamental rights that have been law for 50 years. Their rights to make choices about their own bodies and their own health care are at risk. That’s why people are protesting — they’re unhappy, they’re scared.”

She then tried to justify these horrible protests by stating, “Look, I think the president’s view is that there’s a lot of passion, a lot of fear, a lot of sadness from many, many people across this country about what they saw in that leaked document.” She continued, “We obviously want people’s privacy to be respected.”

Later on, however, Paski stated via a tweet that President Biden “believes in the Constitutional right to protest,” which “should never include violence, threats, or vandalism. Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety.”
