A federal judge has issued a stern warning to the Trump administration after government officials failed to comply with orders to assist in the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador.
Despite an earlier court ruling labeling the deportation an administrative mistake, no meaningful steps have been taken to bring Abrego Garcia back to the United States. The judge expressed deep concern over the lack of progress and transparency, stating there will be zero tolerance for continued evasion.
The Supreme Court had affirmed a previous mandate requiring the government to facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return. However, officials interpreted the ruling narrowly, asserting they had no obligation to negotiate or influence foreign authorities for his release.
Abrego Garcia, who has no criminal history, remains held in a Salvadoran detention facility. His family, especially his wife, continues to appeal for his return, describing the ordeal as devastating and unjust.
The court is now requiring daily updates from the administration, and further legal consequences could follow if the situation remains unresolved.
