Adam Frisch, the Democratic candidate for Colorado’s Third Congressional District, conceded to Republican incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO) on Friday morning.
After it became evident that the contest would be heading for an automatic recount since the margin of defeat was fewer than 550 votes, the Democrats surrendered to Boebert.
The campaign seemed to be going into a recount, and Frisch allegedly told reporters via video chat that he phoned the congresswoman to give his concession and that “the probability of this recount altering more than a couple of votes is very remote.”
No, we are not asking for a new count right now. He remarked, “It’s an initiative that the people of Colorado mandate we adopt via our electoral system,” and he discouraged people from giving to his campaign because of it. To paraphrase his pleading plea: “Please save your money for your groceries, your rent, and your children.”
For his part, former Aspen City Councilman Frisch expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his campaign and criticized his own party for undermining “the faith of rural Americans.”
Since the Democrats “abandoned rural America and working-class America,” as Frisch phrased it, it has been quite some time. The Republicans’ reign over the economy has been unprecedented.
On Thursday night, Boebert had a 551-vote lead over Frisch, who was recently accused of being the target of a blackmail attempt involving surveillance footage of him showing up at a storage unit facility where a local business owner alleged he was caught having an affair, and the race appeared to be headed towards a recount.
At 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, Breitbart News reported that with 99 percent of the vote counted, the congresswoman was only ahead by 551 votes, with 163,758 votes (50.08 percent) to the Democrat’s 163,207 voters (49.92 percent).
A recount must be requested by the Colorado secretary of state if the margin of victory is less than half of one percent and completed no later than December 13. Any losing candidate has the right to request a recount of votes at their own expense. The deadline for requests to be submitted is December 6, and the deadline for completion is December 15.
The Democrat has surrendered, giving Boebert a second term in office despite the fact that a recount is required by state law. There will be a Republican majority in the new Congress, and Boebert will be in charge of it because the GOP won at least 218 members.
