One British man who has stated his intention to slam the National Health Service (NHS) with a lawsuit for giving a green light to a sex-change surgery while he was still attempting to fight and understand his mental illness, has gone public in order to unveil his sad story via a recent intense interview.
A biological male originally from Newcastle, Ritchie Herron stated to the Daily Mail via an exclusive interview that when he had his surgery back in 2018 he was left very badly damaged and that he almost instantly knew in its wake that the entire thing had been a horrendous mistake. His plight first hit the public eye when he issued a tweet about it under a pseudonym.
“‘Oh God, what have I done?’” Herson stated what he remembered thinking as the fog of anesthesia dissipated.
Ritchie Herron (@TullipR) deserves our support. Not just as a young man treated appallingly by those he looked to for help, but also in his forthcoming court case seeking redress. The first step in such support is to read & share his story. https://t.co/fGqWtXyDPt

Aged 35, the gay government worker stated that he had been fighting depression and gender dysphoria just before making the choice to undergo the sex changer operation as a way of dealing with it. Then, he claimed that the procedure, which he labels as “‘the biggest mistake of my life,’” had left him in constant agony, infertile, and incontinent.
Herron also went on to state that the entire incident with the NHS started just over a decade ago when he attempted to get professional help for his depression, which he claims stems from being both gay and living in the closet. He had recently discovered gender dysphoria via an internet chatroom, where people were able to convince him that he was actually transgender.
He stated that he was then sent over to a psychologist and then over to the NHS-run Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Service. In 2014, one clinic issued him a diagnosis of being a “transsexual” in the wake of just 2 short 30-minute appointments. One psychiatrist recommended going on medication to try and block his production of testosterone as a means to prepare for a possible gender change surgery.
Herron stated that one relative who went with him to the clinic attempted to warn the staff that he was taking anti-depressants and was dealing with mental problems, but the system just continued to push him along. He officially changed his name to “Abby” and started to identify as a woman while taking the prescribed hormone treatments.
On the 23rd of May, 2018, he went through the sex-change procedures by going through surgeries to remove his penis and testicles and to craft an artificial vagina in their place.
“‘I didn’t even see the surgeon,’” he claimed. “‘I was very much in the mindset of ‘I’m here now, there’s no stopping it even if I wanted to.’”
The targets of his suit, the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust, has officially denied that any patients at all are sped through the irreversibly process without extensive proper counseling.
“‘Care plans are collaborative and tailored to each patient’s needs and goals, and treatment decisions are made following a thorough assessment in line with national recommendations,’” the group stated to the Mail.
