Currently, the U.S. Military is dealing with an “unprecedented” crisis with recruiting while under the leadership of Democrat President Joe Biden who is forcing the military to drastically slash forecasts for the total number of new recruits that it thinks it will be able to bring into the armed services.
This news comes to light as war has broken out across Europe between Russia and Ukraine, and China is starting to posture with much more hostility towards Taiwan than normal. Both situations could end up spiraling wildly out of control and could end up pulling the United States into a possible war.
It was reported by the Associated Press that officials with the U.S. Army stated this week that they will be short almost 10,000 recruits this year, and next year is slated to be even worse. The report stated that the vice chief of staff for the Army, Army Gen. Joseph Martin, indicated that the military branch could end up being down to 445,000 soliders by the end of next year, which is a drop from what it was hoping to be at, which was 476,000 soldiers.
The report stated that with the majority of the current fiscal year behind us, the Army has only managed to meet roughly 50% of its recruitment goals.
The Secretary of Defense during the Trump administration, Dr. Mark T. Esper, stated that this was “a major issue affecting all the armed services.”
“The answer is NOT lower standards; quality must be paramount,” he stated via social media. “Rather, we need a sustained effort by America’s leaders to inspire our youth to serve. … This is a growing national security issue!”
Martin attempted to suggest that “competition with private companies” was a major factor in the struggles being seen with military recruiting and stated that if the trend is not flipped around, the military would have to restructure things in order to meet the challenges that it is dealing with on the battlefield.
Various top political commentators responded to the report by suggesting that the wokeness that has permeated the armed services under Biden has played a massive role in pushing people away from joining.
“Maybe it’s better having a country that inspires patriots to defend it, rather than one that makes them want to throw up,” explained national security expert Dave Reaboi via social media.
Arthur Schwartz, a political strategist, responded to the report by saying: “More pronouns, less recruits.”
