According to a recent report commissioned by Republican lawmakers, the efficacy of the United States Armed Forces is being hampered by military leaders’ advocacy of transgender policies and ideology and “woke diversity.”
The findings of diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) and LGBT initiatives in the United States military were revealed on Monday by Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida and Representative Chip Roy of Texas. The 18-page report, which criticizes numerous high-ranking officials of the United States military (including General Mark Milley), argues that inadequate leadership is clouding the force’s fundamental goal.
The military of the United States is the finest on earth. “It is also one of the most humble and sacrificial the world has ever known,” the narrative goes. An online poster expressed concern that “sadly, President Joe Biden and his administration are hurting America’s warfighters through a sustained assault driven by awakened virtue signaling.”
U.S. military forces’ objective is to “provide for the common defense.” You can’t use it to test out some extreme socialist policy. The United States of America will not tolerate its use as a club. It also “cannot be frozen by fear of disturbing the sensitivities of Ivy League faculty lounges or progressive commentators,” according to the report’s executive summary.
The Defense Department (DOD) did not change its mind in light of the findings of the investigation.
“Diversity, inclusion, and equality are basically about ensuring individuals are treated with decency and respect, maximizing on the strengths of all our people, expanding opportunity, and removing potential obstacles or injustices.” Much as we like to brag about our military gear, it is common knowledge that our people are the real strength of the country. In a statement sent to The Daily Wire, a DOD official emphasized the importance of the Department’s guidelines designed to maximize the efficiency of personnel utilization and strengthen the bonds within units.
Among the high-ranking military officials criticized in the report are Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley. The report highlights the political backgrounds of two key members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) staff: Bishop Garrison, senior counselor to the U.S. Secretary of Defense on Human Capital and DEI challenges, and Kelisa Wing, DEI chief of the Department of Defense Education Activity.
A few weeks into President Joe Biden’s term, Austin ordered a stand-down of all government employees, including the military, for a single day. The stand-down directive was issued so the administration could hold a meeting to “address extremism in the ranks with their people.” The Senate Armed Services Committee conducted follow-up research and found that, due to the low rates of extremism among U.S. service people, investing more excellent resources into combating extremism inside the military would be an “inappropriate use of public revenue.”
The report claims that Milley has lobbied for the “teaching [of Critical Race Theory] at U.S. Service Academies” and has spoken before Congress on his interest in researching “white anger.”
The study notes that the Biden administration “is choosing to focus on and promote the research of racial extremism,” despite the fact that it is “essentially a non-issue” in the military.
During the Biden administration, DEI has been prioritized throughout government agencies, not only the Department of Defense. DHS has identified white supremacy as a significant threat to U.S. security. Energy launched its first “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Strategic Plan” in September to further stress the Department’s dedication to creating a workplace that values Americans of all backgrounds.
The United States Special Operations Command is likewise dedicated to DEI. According to the United States Special Operations Command’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan for 2021, “diversity and inclusion are operational imperatives.”
The only thing our Special Forces should worry about is having an effect. All other considerations must be subordinate to and supportive of this objective, the document states. ‘[f]orcing our military to engage in DEI training supports supporting and developing soldiers on criteria other than skill and capacity to carry out a mission,’ the author writes.
The health and fitness standards for transgender people and those with a diagnosis of gender dysphoria have been lowered, according to Rubio and Roy. The initiative was first taken by Barack Obama, then halted by Donald Trump, and then restarted by Joe Biden.
The removal of braces or Invisalign is a prerequisite for enrollment. The article states that specific sex reassignment procedures have a recovery time of “up to a year” but that “today’s awakened military is now brazenly supporting and applauding” them.
The report claims that the highest levels of the United States military do not take accountability for their mistakes. Terrorists struck the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, killing hundreds of Afghans and 13 American personnel after the United States withdrew from the country suddenly. In an unintentional act of retribution against a person who was initially believed to be a terrorist, ten individuals, including seven children, were killed.
One officer’s complaint against the military’s conduct of the departure from Afghanistan led to the only disciplinary action taken. This officer’s behavior is highly troubling. While forces were still in Kabul, he disobeyed a gag order by openly criticizing his superiors while in uniform and on government property. Incongruous conduct, as the report observes, is totally inappropriate.
On the other hand, the hypocrisy is glaringly apparent. The article concludes, “It is disgusting that the woke Biden Administration held him responsible, but commanders whose acts caused the lives of military members and the loss of billions of dollars in equipment to opponents remained unpunished.”
