During the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, Biden passionately rebuked Trump for evading his presidential duties.
Following Trump’s recent proclamation that he would bear “no fault” in the event of the United States defaulting on its debt, a viral tweet circulated featuring an advertisement from Biden’s 2020 campaign asserting “accountability starts here.”
When questioned about the debt ceiling, Vice President Biden confidently declared, “I have fulfilled my responsibilities,” further emphasizing, “Based on the merits of my proposals, I would bear no blame.” Notably, Biden made these remarks while in Japan on Sunday.
In April 2020, Biden’s campaign unveiled a distinctive campaign ad aimed at then-President Donald Trump, criticizing his inclination to assign blame to others amidst the global turmoil caused by COVID-19.
The commercial’s narrator passionately proclaimed, “Accountability starts here.” These words echo the wisdom of Harry Truman, signifying the absence of room for excuses and the vital importance of taking responsibility for consequential decisions that impact the entire world.
“Donald Trump believed his role revolved around tweets, rallies, and grand spectacles,” the narrator added. Ensuring the safety of nearly 330 million Americans was the last thing on his mind, thereby neglecting his duty.
Responding to the criticism, the vice president tweeted, “The presidency entails the ultimate responsibility for pivotal global decisions.”
Throughout our nation’s history, exceptional presidents have exemplified the unwavering leadership demanded by this esteemed position. Biden tweeted, “Donald Trump has fallen short.”
On Sunday, Republican strategist Matt Whitlock shared a link to the video, attributing Biden’s historically low job approval ratings to his failure to deliver on every campaign promise.
While attending G-7 talks in Hiroshima, Japan, the president addressed these accusations during a press conference. After months of resistance from the White House, Republicans in Congress eventually compelled Biden to engage in negotiations.
“I have done everything within my power,” Biden asserted, “Now, it is essential for the other side to adjust their stance, as much of their proposed agenda is, quite frankly, unacceptable.” Peter Doocy from Fox News raised this issue during the press conference’s conclusion.
“Mr. President, you have already stated, ‘I have fulfilled my duties,'” Doocy pressed, referencing the debt ceiling. “Do you believe that no blame would be attributed to you if something were to go awry?”
“I would be blameless based on the merits of my actions,” Biden confidently replied. From a political perspective, no one should bear culpability. Furthermore, this is a notion some individuals are contemplating. Well, I suppose caution should guide my words. Some House Republicans aligned with MAGA, I presume, understand the detrimental economic consequences this would entail, and since I am the president, I would inevitably shoulder the blame. Ultimately, this seems to be their guaranteed strategy to hinder my re-election.
