Don Lemon, who was let go from CNN on Monday, has finally addressed the public. Wednesday night at New York’s TIME 100 Summit Gala, he did an interview on the red carpet.
Before Lemon and his friend Tim Malone could join the posh event, Lemon gave an interview to the press. Even though he appeared to be pained by the news once again, he shrugged it off and said, “Life goes on.” I’m good with whatever comes next.
Lemon told the reporter, “I didn’t lose my job, I lost my sister.” A person is more important than a position. That’s why I’m able to zero in on what really matters.
Lemon continued by saying he was anticipating a trip to the beach with his loved one and some of his closest friends and relatives. By saying, “I’m going to have the summer of a 12-year-old,” he was insinuating that he would do nothing productive with his time.
When asked about the influence he had at his previous network, Lemon said, “Why don’t you ask my colleagues about that?”
Just hours after Lemon co-hosted his last episode of “CNN This Morning” with Poppy Harlow and Caitlin Collins, he was fired. This came as everyone was still reeling from the news that Fox had suddenly severed ties with ratings dynamo Tucker Carlson.
Fearless radio host on Sirius XM. Howard Stern speculated that Lemon’s ability to keep the news to himself was due to his proximity to the incident. On Tuesday, Stern stated, “Don Lemon got fired at CNN, and then an executive at NBC named Jeff Shell got fired.” And I’m thinking, ‘Wow, Don Lemon and Jeff Shell are extremely lucky,’ because the news of Tucker Carlson’s termination on the same day as yours won’t mean anything. No one will ever suspect a thing.
Carlson was also spotted leaving Fox News on a golf cart with a smile on his face as he drove to his Florida home from dinner with his wife earlier in the week. Retirement, he quipped, had been kind to him so far.
It has been speculated that both Lemon and Carlson have retained legal representation to assist them with their respective escape plans.
