In a concise and direct manner, Twitter CEO Elon Musk responded to a tweet thread by Matt Walsh, shedding light on troubling practices within the realm of sex changes. The investigation conducted by Walsh and his team suggests that prominent transgender healthcare providers in the United States, Plume and Folx, may be misrepresenting patient health information and expediently approving life-altering sex-change operations to secure insurance coverage.
During the undercover research, one of Walsh’s producers successfully obtained approval for an orchiectomy, a surgical procedure involving the removal of the testicles, following a mere 22-minute virtual appointment with Plume, the largest transgender healthcare provider in the country. This revelation highlights the ease with which one can secure approval for sex-change surgeries, raising concerns about the integrity of the process.
Musk, in response to Walsh’s tweets, simply exclaimed, “Insane!!” This succinct comment encapsulates his reaction to the alarming information presented.
Walsh’s producer, Gregg Re, initiated contact with Plume through a video chat, utilizing a false identity on the intake form. Despite displaying clear signs of not experiencing gender dysphoria for the required six-month period, mispronouncing the desired surgical procedure, and expressing uncertainty about the outcome, Re was met with surprising compliance. Plume’s nurse practitioner, as described by Walsh, expressed a desire to compose a compelling letter justifying the surgery.
After a mere three days, Plume, posing as “Chelsea Bussey,” sent a message to Re, alleging the presence of “significant, ongoing gender dysphoria,” despite Re’s vehement denials. Plume even recommended the removal of Re’s testicles. Walsh asserts that Plume disclosed to Re via text message that the recommendation letters adhere to the radical guidelines outlined by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Furthermore, Plume offers recommendation letters for transsexual surgery at a price of $150.
It is worth noting that Musk has previously shown interest in Walsh’s work. The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla shared Walsh’s groundbreaking documentary, “What is a Woman?,” with his extensive following of 140 million on Twitter. Musk’s endorsement came as a response to the film’s cancellation by a streaming platform, and he recommended it to all parents, further emphasizing his engagement with Walsh’s ideas.
