After stating late last week that her “shameful behavior” will not be accepted on Twitter in the future, Twitter CEO Elon Musk terminated left-leaning Washington Post writer Taylor Lorenz on Saturday night.
Lorenz stated on her blog that “I received zero communication from the company on why I was suspended or what agreements I broke.”
She said she was let go because she tweeted @ Musk to get his take on a story, and he didn’t respond.
She boasted, “In my 13-year career in social media, I have never received a single term of service or community rules infraction for my account or any account that I have maintained.” For those who value free speech and expression, “Twitter has acted as a vital real-time news source and played a critical part in the journalism industry, but Musk’s arbitrary suspensions of journalists who report on him should alarm you.”
Lorenz’s suspension was documented by the popular Twitter feed Libs of TikTok.
Taylor Lorenz, “the individual who doxxed me,” was banned from Twitter, the Libs of TikTok said. It was Taylor’s campaign goal to get me banned from Twitter on many occasions. She also complained when [Instagram] and [Facebook] restored my access after she had pushed for them to block me. I feel absolutely nada for you.
On Friday, Musk reacted to a tweet from Ariadna Jacob, who claimed, “I’m not famous, and I wasn’t a public person either when Taylor Lorenz asked for my address, said it wasn’t for publication, and then proceeded to dox me in the NYT with the address she had told me she wasn’t going to publish. Many people on Twitter retweeted the article.
As Musk stated in response to the tweet, “Such despicable conduct will not be permitted going forward.”
There seemed to be near-unanimity on the right side of the political spectrum that this was not a typical censorship case, even though many conservatives typically oppose internet censorship.
Tim Pool, the podcast presenter, tweeted, “Taylor Lorenz finally got suspended for all the nasty things she’s done.”
Digital strategist Caleb Hull commented, “Banning Taylor Lorenz is the finest thing Elon Musk has done for this website.”
Elon Musk has reportedly stopped responding to the far left’s lies. As author Ian Miles Cheong put it on Twitter, “Good.” Additional examples of this are required. These guys will not rest until they have destroyed you and all you care about.
Michael Cernovich, a political journalist, tweeted, “Was out with pals, then checked in to discover this. Is it the standard definition of a “night cap”?
