GOP members launch probe of bungled Afghanistan exit in 2021

In August 2021, a terrorist attack at the Kabul airport claimed the lives of 13 American service members who had recently returned from Afghanistan.

The disorderly departure of U.S. soldiers from Afghanistan scheduled for 2021 by the Biden administration is the subject of an official probe filed by Republicans.

On Thursday, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken requesting papers connected to the withdrawal once again. He noted that his previous requests had gone unanswered for almost a year.

McCaul said in a statement that the Biden administration’s refusal to answer their questions about the withdrawal and its refusal to cooperate with oversight demands were “absurd and shameful.”

He also warned that the CommitteeCommittee will resort to coercive measures if required to get people to comply with their requirements.

McCaul continued by saying that as committee chairman, he “regard this duty as paramount, and we will not rest until all of our inquiries have been addressed, and the guilty people have been brought to justice. This is something we owe the American people, and especially our service men and veterans.”

According to The Hill, the State Department has answered thousands of requests for information on the withdrawal, briefed more than 150 members of Congress from both parties, and was dedicated to cooperating with the Committee Committee.

In response to Fox News Digital’s inquiry, the State Department still needs to provide a statement.

On August 26, 2021, when the United States military attempted to evacuate its citizens from Afghanistan, thirteen American servicemen were murdered in a terrorist explosion at the Kabul airport. There were also over a hundred Afghan civilian deaths.
