Vice President Kamala Harris had a terrible day in Iowa when Howard lost.
Vice President Kamala Harris’s alma mater, Howard University, lost to the defending NCAA men’s basketball national champion, Kansas, 96-68, on Thursday.
When Harris was shown on the video screen in Des Moines, Iowa, during a game between Howard and Kansas, no one said a word. The number of boos from the crowd was said to be much higher than the number of applauses.
When the Bison lost the game, the vice president went to the locker room to give them some words of encouragement.
You gave it your all. You stayed until the last second. She told you that she and every Bison were proud of you. You are quite perceptive. In other words, you are in charge of yourself. You did your best in the match. I think it’s great that you guys kept going. You can play with pride, knowing that you’ve given Bison a good name all over the world.
So, I get that you’re not feeling or thinking your best right now, and that’s fine. What you do is outstanding. Your hard work is something to be proud of. You are very strong, and no matter what, you will always win.
But the rest of the social media community did not like Harris’s comments very much.
The Howard Hoyas were in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for the third time. This is the second time the team has been a No. 16 seed. The Bison were the No. 12 seed in 1981.
This was Kenneth Blakeney’s best season as head coach at Howard. The team went 22-12 while he was in charge. Howard had only four wins to his name just three years ago.
