Alissa Carlson Schwartz, a meteorologist for KCAL, got a concussion while she was in the air, but she is getting better.
People have talked online about the scary time when a CBS weatherman in Los Angeles passed out live on air and had to be taken to the hospital.
Alisa Carlson Schwartz passed out on air when her co-hosts at KCAL cut to her at 7:00 a.m. this week to talk about the rain in Los Angeles. It came as a big surprise to everyone in the room.
Schwartz’s white face sagged, and her eyes rolled back in her head. She hit her head on her desk as if she was trying to stop herself from falling, but then she passed out and fell to the floor.
The show’s co-hosts, Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim didn’t seem to understand what was going on at first. It’s possible that they thought Schwartz was talking about the weather for the next week. When they realized something was wrong, they told the crowd, “We’re going to take a break right now.” TMZ says that the morning show has not started live broadcasts again.
Mike Dello Stritto, Vice President and News Director at CBS Los Angeles, said that Schwartz’s coworkers had called 911 and that she was being treated at a local hospital. He didn’t say what had happened to cause Schwartz to pass out, though.
Schwartz said last Sunday on Facebook, “I hurt my head and am doing my best to get better. I felt better as soon as I left the hospital. I’m glad for the meal and the long nap.” It’s not clear how much her head injury caused her to fall.
She said, “I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I get better.” Future Changes:
TMZ says that Schwartz was told he had a leaky heart valve after he threw up during a live weather report in 2014. At the time, he was working for a different network.
Schwartz’s most recent heart attack was not caused by a heart attack, she said on Sunday.
She also said that she would rest and get “enough sleep” for a while because this time it wasn’t her heart.
