A Michigan mother who lost her two sons to fentanyl overdoses blasted President Biden as “despicable” for laughing off her suggestion that his administration bore some of the blame for their deaths.
Caleb, 20, and Kyler, 18, Kiessling, Rebecca’s kids, both overdosed on Percocet that had been laced with fentanyl and died in July 2020. She criticized Biden on Wednesday night for exploiting her family’s tale to refute Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s assertion that he was responsible for their deaths.
To explain what I mean by that: “Is this how you’re going to talk about the loss of my sons? As a result of an error made by one of them? What, the fact that I’ve had to bury my boys, makes you laugh? Kiessling was quoted in a violent Facebook video.
On Tuesday, Kiessling spoke before the House Homeland Security Committee after her two boys died of fentanyl overdoses. She pleaded with Congress to do more to prevent fentanyl from entering the nation.
Greene (R-Ga) seized on Kiessling’s testimony to support his contention that the brothers may still be alive today if the Biden administration had maintained control of the border and halted the flow of narcotics into the United States.
During a meeting of House Democrats on Wednesday night in Baltimore, 80-year-old Biden poked fun at Greene. He blamed the Trump administration’s policies for the boys’ deaths.
The sad mom whose two sons overdosed on fentanyl is said to have been slain by me, I have just learned. The president continued, “It’s interesting that the fentanyl they used was created by the previous government,” adding a heh-heh as some individuals in the audience moaned about Greene.
Kiessling said she was “struck” by Biden’s lack of remorse after she urged him to apologize.
“To dare you. Furthermore, what precisely is wrong with you? She continued by saying that the video proves that all of the committee’s Democratic members expressed sympathy. Is that impossible for you? So you had to make jokes about my suffering.
Even though Kiessling claims her two boys died of fentanyl six months before Biden was elected, she has been critical of the government’s reaction ever since.
He said, “I don’t know,” when questioned about the 22% increase in fentanyl-related deaths that have occurred since he took office. It was Kiessling who posed the query.
It implies the death toll among American citizens has increased by the tens of thousands under your presidency. Above twice as many households have suffered a devastating loss.
To what extent do you expect to maintain your current level of contentment? What can you reveal about the persons you’ve been keeping tabs on? How significant is making fun of someone in their presence?
She continued, saying she hoped President Biden would demonstrate “genuine sadness for the lives lost” and that his actions would reveal “where his heart is.”
Many were taken aback by Biden’s rude response, and critics like Kiessling blasted his performance.
“The @POTUS has to issue an immediate apology for this. Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee claimed that no one, not even Donald Trump, would laugh at a mom whose kids died from a fentanyl overdose.
Repugnant to the official House GOP Twitter account.
When President Joe Biden found out that Fentanyl had murdered a woman’s kid, he laughed. Even conservative podcaster Robby Starbuck, who found it repulsive and inappropriate, said as much.
RNCC Spokesperson Jake Schneider tweeted, “For Biden, this is the very minimum standard. The poor soul. It’s never humorous that kids are dying because of fentanyl trafficking. Worse than anyone could have ever imagined.
