An official letter from Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s office was obtained by The Daily Wire, claiming that Youngkin had instructed a liberal school system to cease collaborating with organizations “linked” to the Chinese Communist Party.
In a letter to Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Micah McQueen, Secretary of Education Aimee Rogstad Guidera expressed her “serious concerns” over reports that Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and the TJHSST Partnership Fund (Fund) had accepted large donations from organizations with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Guidera was curious as to how much money was collected, how it was used if any student information or school supplies were shared with the Chinese groups, and if any of the groups had ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Please advise the schools under your supervision to end their ties with any organizations with ties to the Chinese Communist Party. I have also inquired with the Virginia Department of Education on the frequency with which CCP-linked partners collaborate with individual Virginia school divisions.
The Washington Examiner, citing documents uncovered by Parents Defending Education, claims that in 2014, Tsinghua University High School (TUHS) recruited TJHSST to assist it and China in general adopt the STEM and advanced lab research for which TJHSST is known. Tsinghua University is a military university in China, according to the United States Department of Defense, and the two institutions have strong ties.
According to the Examiner, the TJ Fund received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Ameson Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation and a Chinese corporation named Shirble. There are connections between these two organizations, which are both members of the United Front Work Department, a global lobbying campaign.
To a large extent due to his efforts to better the public education system, Republican Youngkin was elected governor in 2021.
Although there are still communist nations in Asia, Democrats killed a plan last month to educate kids about the disastrous legacy of communism. A major historical event of the twentieth century was the rise of communism.
Given that Virginia Democrats have already deleted the admissions exam because Asians tend to perform well on it, it’s hard to fathom why they would ever want to lower the number of Asians in top institutions like Thomas Jefferson. The Democrats’ proposal was dubbed a “merit lottery” by its opponents. The number of Asian students at the elite magnet school has dropped by 54% as a result of this policy shift.
Federal Judge Claude Hilton stated last year that the “discussion of TJ admissions adjustments was polluted by a discourse of racial balance from the beginning.” The judge concluded that Fairfax County officials were incorrect to try to decrease the percentage of Asian kids. The democratically-led school board is appealing the ruling.
The liberal education system stopped listening to Youngkin after he said that parents may send their children to school without masks.
Since then, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has investigated the Fairfax County Public Schools on many occasions, mostly for targeting minority kids with advertisements for advanced placement classes. As officials at TJ and other Fairfax schools wanted “equal results for everyone,” they often prevented kids from receiving merit awards that may have led to scholarship opportunities.
Miyares has discussed the reasons for his family’s departure from Cuba under Communism and the “nationalization” of the country in the name of justice and equality. He has also disclosed that his uncle was seized by Fidel Castro’s secret police. Parental authority is disregarded in communist states like Cuba, which adopted the Soviet model. Their children are told that their allegiance is no longer with them but with the state.
