In a recent study conducted by Rasmussen Reports and unveiled on Thursday, a noteworthy 40% of likely voters expressed their belief that it is imperative for Congress to commence impeachment proceedings against Vice President Joe Biden.
The survey disclosed that 42% of likely voters advocate for Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings against Vice President Joe Biden, while 45% hold the opposite view. The consensus among Republicans stands at a resolute 70%, paralleled by an unwavering 71% among Democrats. However, independents remain divided on this matter. Non-voters, on the other hand, seem less inclined towards impeachment, with only 39% supporting the initiation of such procedures against the 80-year-old president, while 40% hold the opposing stance.
Furthermore, a striking 53% of all respondents either agree or strongly agree that Biden has committed “high crimes and misdemeanors that would justify Congress impeaching him” during his tenure as president. A significant one-third of them perceive this as “very” plausible. Interestingly, over one-third of Democrats concur with this viewpoint, as do nearly half of all independents.
Nonetheless, voters harbor skepticism regarding the likelihood of Congress pursuing impeachment proceedings against Biden when questioned about the possibility of such action. A considerable 66% of respondents deem it highly unlikely, with an additional 29% going as far as to assert that it is “not very likely.”
Further insights from Rasmussen Surveys indicate that men (48%) are more inclined than women to believe that Biden has committed serious crimes and misdemeanors since assuming office (58%), as well as to support the initiation of impeachment proceedings by Congress (55%).
Among the voter demographics, younger individuals exhibit less inclination to believe that Congress will seek impeachment, whereas older voters are more prone to believe that Biden has committed offenses worthy of impeachment during his presidency.
This survey gathered opinions from 996 likely voters between May 11 and May 14, 2023, with an uncertainty range of +/- 3%. The release of the survey findings coincides with the announcement of impeachment articles against Biden by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
On Thursday, Representative Greene made the following statement regarding the matter: “With the utmost solemnity, I hereby declare my intention to introduce articles of impeachment against the head of this finally restored American Executive Branch, which, since January 20th, 2021, has been systematically dismantling our nation: President of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden.” Greene highlighted Biden’s inability to secure the country’s borders as the principal motive behind her decision.
A Georgia legislator cited Biden’s deliberate negligence in enforcing immigration laws and securing the border as the reasons behind his actions, noting that over five million illegal immigrants had crossed into the United States under Biden’s leadership.
