Nikki Haley, a candidate for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, told Breitbart News exclusively that China would never have launched a surveillance balloon if she were in charge.
Haley, a former South Carolina governor and ambassador to the United Nations under Trump announced her candidacy for president last week and gave an exclusive interview to Breitbart News before beginning her campaign in New Hampshire and Iowa.
Let there be no doubt: “If I were president, China would never have sent a balloon in the first place,” Haley stated to Breitbart News. The Chinese sent a balloon because they witnessed America’s defeat in Afghanistan, its surrender of Crimea to Russia, and Moscow’s subsequent invasion of Ukraine. In reality, America has accomplished very little. A lot of people saw Biden stoop to Iran’s level to get into the nuclear deal. So, they’re saying, “Let’s get away with it.” What kind of impression do we give out if China feels confident enough to fly a balloon across our border? How come Biden waited so long? It would have been better if they had caught it outside the door. The time has come for us to confront NORAD and demand to know what on earth they are up to. How come you folks are seeing this? China needs to feel some accountability. “They can’t get away with this.”
When asked by Breitbart News what she would do if elected president to hold China responsible, Haley said that party leaders on both sides need to start treating China differently. She argued that the United States must protect its supply chains and prevent China from stealing intellectual property and establishing influence operations in American institutions.
We need to rethink how we deal with China. Haley criticized both the GOP and the Democrats for their “too long” belief that “being kind to China will make them want to be like us.” They have no interest in joining our ranks. It’s safe to say they’re Communists. As far as they’re concerned, Westerners are all Satan himself. As far as they’re concerned, the West is the epitome of wickedness. They’re trying to come our way. What we need to do is cut off university financing, put an end to intellectual property theft, strengthen our military to show that we mean business, and make it clear that if someone so much as floats a balloon across our borders, they will pay the ultimate price. Our supply chain has to start prioritizing the United States and its allies. When it comes to matters of national security, we should not be conducting business with China.
Haley drew parallels between the Chinese Communist Party and the Soviet Union, which she said collapsed after decades of Cold War tensions, during her inauguration speech. As Haley put it in her address, “Communist China won’t merely lose” in America she envisions. Communist China, like the Soviet Union before it, will be consigned to the dustbin of history.
In an interview with Breitbart News, Haley was asked if she thought the confrontation with China was a second Cold War. She stated that her opinion would change based on Beijing’s actions.
The ball is in China’s court. Haley said that it was important to make clear to China what kind of behavior would not be tolerated by the United States. We can prevent them from bothering us if they know what is expected of them. The trouble, though, is that they can tell Biden isn’t listening. For People to be able to look up and see a Chinese surveillance balloon is the greatest national disgrace the United States has had in quite some time. This says a lot to the rest of the globe. Now, we must find a solution.
