On Tuesday, Lauren Boebert, the congresswoman representing Colorado, publicly disclosed that she and her husband of 18 years had officially initiated divorce proceedings.
Boebert expressed the immense difficulty of this decision, stating, “Filing for divorce from my husband was undoubtedly the most challenging and heartbreaking choice I’ve ever had to make. I am truly grateful for the years we shared in marriage and for our wonderful children, who deserve privacy and love as we navigate through this painful process.”
Back in 2005, when Boebert was 36 years old, she and her husband, Jayson, welcomed their first child into the world.
Sharing the news with great sorrow, she added, “As someone who has always upheld the sanctity of marriage, it pains me to announce this. It has come to the point where our differences are irreconcilable.”
Boebert also made it clear that she will refrain from discussing the details of the divorce any further, out of respect for their children, and will continue her dedicated work representing the constituents of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.
According to official court records, a divorce hearing has been scheduled for May 31 in Mesa County.
Reports suggest that Boebert’s husband is grappling with mixed emotions regarding the separation.
He expressed deep anguish over this devastating turn of events, saying, “This tragedy has shattered me to my core. It is the lowest point of my life,” as he spoke to the press.
Out of profound respect for his wife, he emphasized his unwillingness to speak ill of her, stating, “She has been my partner for two decades and the mother of our children. Please, grant me a moment of silence.”
During their courtship, Boebert and her husband had been involved in two incidents of domestic violence.
In February 2004, the future Mrs. Jayson was arrested and charged with domestic abuse, as it was alleged that Jayson “unlawfully struck, shoved, or kicked… and subjected her to physical contact.” This information was relayed to The Post by a representative of the Garfield County Court Clerk.
Consequently, Jayson Boebert spent a week behind bars due to the incident.
Another incident occurred in May 2004 when an argument between the couple led to Lauren scratching Jayson’s face and chest and causing damage to their house by throwing objects.
She faced multiple charges, including underage drinking, criminal mischief, and third-degree aggravated assault.
In March, Boebert joyfully announced that her 17-year-old son Tyler and his girlfriend of one year were expecting a child in April. However, there has been no public announcement regarding the birth.
Boebert recounts in her memoir, “My American Life,” that she and Jayson “instantly fell in love” after their initial meeting when she was just 16 years old, and he was employed at a Burger King. They attempted to get married in Las Vegas after dating for four months, but they were denied due to their young ages.
Due to her pregnancy with Tyler, Boebert had to forgo her senior year of high school. Nonetheless, she successfully completed the GED program and pursued her aspirations to run for Congress in 2020, emphasizing her pro-gun rights stance.
Boebert narrowly secured a second term as a far-right congresswoman, with a margin of just over 3,000 votes in the November election.
