Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has been significantly absent from Capitol Hill this week, and her staff has said it’s because of health concerns.
According to her office, Senator Feinstein is in California this week for medical treatment.
The spokesman said she was looking forward to returning to the nation’s capital.
Nothing else of note was discussed at the time.
Feinstein, at 89 years old, is the Senate’s senior member, and her mental state has come into doubt in recent years.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, who has been in office since 1994, said last month that she will not seek reelection in 2024.
Popular House Democrats Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee have all announced their desire to challenge Feinstein for her Senate seat.
Pennsylvania Senator and Democrat John Fetterman are absent from the Senate due to illness.
After suffering a stroke during his campaign last year, Fetterman checked himself into a hospital two weeks ago to receive counseling for acute depression, according to his office.
The Democrats have gained a majority in the Senate with Kyrsten Sinema’s (D-AZ) party move to independence. Republican members of the current Congress only number 49, making them the minority.
