Throughout his tenure as President, Joe Biden has made several offensive remarks about firearms and attacked supporters of the Second Amendment.
The President has never changed his mind about the Second Amendment or gun control throughout his time in office. The President’s insistence on banning so-called “assault weapons” belies any confidence in his knowledge of the issue.
Biden appeared to admonish his conservative colleagues at last week’s National Action Network Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon in Washington for their steadfast support of the Second Amendment and specific firearms.
He said that some of my closest friends might be found on the right, specifically among those who speak of patriot blood nurturing the tree of liberty. “To even think of engaging in armed resistance against the federal government, it is imperative that F-15s be acquired. Getting your hands on an AR-15 is a hazardous move.”
Biden quotes a letter from Thomas Jefferson saying, “The tree of liberty must be nurtured from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.” In his role as the third president of the United States, he was a crucial figure in the development of the Declaration of Independence.
Joe Biden, the President, has said in the past that gun rights supporters in the United States need more firearms to combat the government successfully. His proposal to end gun violence was detailed in a speech in July of 2021: “You need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons to take against the government.”
As an additional falsehood, he claimed that the law has always limited the Second Amendment’s specific interpretation.
“It is well established that the Second Amendment limits gun ownership in quantity and variety. Since funds were tight, purchasing a cannon was out of the question.” That was the central point he was making in his discourse. In actuality, there has always been the option to limit who may acquire guns and how many anyone can have.
Scholars have comprehensively discredited several statements made by Biden over the past five years.
As evidenced by Politifact, the federal government began putting restrictions on purchasing and possessing weapons well after the Second Amendment was ratified in 1934.
President Joe Biden said after the November 2022 midterm elections that “the thought we still allow semiautomatic weapons to be purchased is repugnant” and that the purchase of certain firearms “has no socially redeeming value.”
Semiautomatic weapons, including pistols and rifles, have a single shot when the trigger is pulled.
At a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last August, Biden made many embarrassing mistakes on firearms. This was spurred on by his “Safer America” initiative to lessen criminality, support law enforcement, and tighten access to guns and background checks.
During his remarks, Biden made a remark concerning the speed of AR-15 bullets. The accuracy and range of AR-15 projectiles are unparalleled by those of any other rifle. US VP Joe Biden asked rhetorically.
Regular AR-15s need higher muzzle velocities than they now have to convey the President’s meaning more accurately.
When Field & Stream evaluated the velocities of other rifle rounds in June, the AR-15 ammo did not do well. Field & Stream covered the event in an article. Some examples are the.220 Swift,257 Weatherby Magnum,30-378 Weatherby,224 Clark, and.220 Bore. The 22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer is the fastest bullet available.
According to Outdoor Life, the.220 Swift is “the fastest commercial rifle cartridge in the world” due to its ability to propel a 48-grain bullet at a velocity of 4,100 feet per second. The.220 is not a legal cartridge for the AR-15, according to the NRA.
The AR-15 can fire high-velocity ammunition, such as the.223, the 5.56, and the 7.62, at speeds between 2,700 and 3,100 feet per second.
Joe Biden, the President, insulted gun rights advocates in Pennsylvania by calling them “brave” for their belief that firearms may be used for self-defense and claiming that “AR-15s rip the body apart.” Shotgun wounds can range from relatively mild to fatal, depending on the caliber of the bullet used.
There was a time when President Joe Biden urged the brave right-wing Americans who believe everything depends on maintaining America’s sovereignty and security to arm themselves with an F-15 if they want to battle the United States. A gun alone won’t cut it here.
President Biden isn’t the first president to publicly express concerns about the availability of certain guns in the United States or the constitutionality of the right to bear arms more broadly. Then-President Joe Biden called for the “removal of assault-type guns and magazines that may have multiple rounds in them” at a campaign event in Iowa in September of 2019.
Most current rifles, like the AR-15, employ magazines that can store more than one round, a fact Biden seemed to gloss over at the time.
Since becoming President, Biden has worked to enact additional essential gun regulations.
In June, the most comprehensive gun control legislation in 30 years was passed by a Democratically controlled House and Senate and signed into law by President Joe Biden.
Chris Murphy of Connecticut and John Cornyn of Texas, two Democrats, sponsored the bill after additional tragedies. It would legalize the use of “red flag legislation” in each state, confiscating weapons from those identified as a danger to themselves or others.
The plan also allocates funds to various health and mental health programs and enhances background checks for individuals under 21. As a bonus, the so-called “boyfriend loophole” is closed, which formerly allowed for the loss of gun rights for married domestic abusers but not unmarried domestic abusers.
