A weekend celebration in Hickory, North Carolina, turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy after gunfire erupted at a crowded house party, leaving one man dead and eleven others wounded.
The shooting happened just after midnight on Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View area, where nearly 100 guests—mostly teens and young adults—had gathered. According to authorities, multiple shooters opened fire, unleashing over 80 rounds in a matter of seconds.
The victim who lost his life was identified as 58-year-old Shawn Patrick Hood from Lenoir. One other person remains in critical condition, and several others are being treated for serious injuries at nearby hospitals.
The crime scene stretched across both the inside and outside of the residence, covering roughly two acres. Investigators believe the shooting involved more than one gunman, though no arrests have been made yet. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
