The Department of Justice has reached outside the agency for a prosecutor to review the case against American hero Gen Michael Flynn because of the apparent double standard as witnessed by the exoneration of Andrew McCabe even after he admitted to the lying and the leaking he was accused of. It has become apparent that AG Bill Barr has some swamp to drain of his own.
The same DOJ prosecutor who let McCabe off the hook is the same one who let Pakistani spy, Inran Awan off the hook after he hacked into over 40 Democratic members of the House. Obviously he knows something the Democrats did not want him spilling his guts about. The Flynn case has been a case study in dishonesty. He is currently trying to renege on his plea bargain after the DOJ changed the terms without consulting him.
The case has now been turned over to Jeff Jensen, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri. The thing that worries me is that they left crooked attorney Brandon Van Grack. He should have been given full autonomy over the case. I feel that an honest assessment of the facts would clear Flynn completely after he was entrapped and Mueller’s hoods threatened to prosecute his son.
The probe into Flynn’s case, though, comes as the timeline for the former national security adviser’s sentencing remains at a standstill.
Last month, Flynn and his attorney Sidney Powell moved to withdraw his guilty plea for making false statements to the FBI about his communications and conversations with former Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak—which stemmed from Mueller’s probe as well.
Powell, in the filing, said the move to withdraw his guilty plea was “because of the government’s bad faith, vindictiveness and breach of the plea agreement.”
“The prosecution has shown abject bad faith in pure retaliation against Mr. Flynn since he retained new counsel,” she wrote. “This can only be because, with new, unconflicted counsel, Mr. Flynn refused to lie for the prosecution.”
