On Thursday’s “Rush Hour” on NewsNation, Vice President Joe Biden said that the government is working to reduce food prices and that “the main driver of food prices” isn’t the increased price of things like beef or eggs, but rather in packaged goods, so that “you will see people not buying Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, you will see them buying other Raisin Bran, which is going to be a dollar cheaper.”
According to Vice President Joe Biden, the message he wants to send to the public about rising food and fuel costs is that “we’re getting them down. I foretold that I would successfully bring them to their knees. Reduced by us. My family has always had discussions about rising costs at the dinner table, whether it be for petrol or groceries. And we’re doing a lot more besides; and by the way, while increases in the cost of beef, eggs, and other staples contribute to rising food costs, these increases are not the primary factor. There are only packaged items available. Consumers will switch to other brands of Raisin Bran that are a dollar less than Kellogg’s, causing the company to lose sales.
