A Texas DoorDash driver was fatally stabbed in the early hours outside a Waffle House, with authorities confirming the arrest of a suspect in connection with the incident.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Jackson Oltmanns, was reportedly making a delivery near the Waffle House location when he became involved in an altercation in the restaurant’s parking lot. Witnesses told police that the dispute escalated quickly, resulting in Oltmanns being stabbed multiple times.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but Oltmanns succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on-site.
The suspect, Quindarius Cartwright, 26, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Police confirmed that Cartwright remained at the scene and was apprehended without resistance. He is currently being held on murder charges as the investigation continues.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack, but initial reports suggest the two men did not have a prior relationship. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the restaurant and interviewing witnesses to piece together the exact sequence of events.
The tragic killing has shocked the local community, especially fellow gig workers who have raised concerns about safety while making late-night deliveries. DoorDash released a statement expressing condolences to Oltmanns’ family and said they are cooperating with law enforcement while reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Cartwright is expected to appear in court this week for an initial hearing. Police say the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine what led to the deadly confrontation.
