Conservative Site “The Rebel” Taken Offline

Just days after service providers GoDaddy, Google, and Cloudflare took the white nationalist website Daily Stormer offline, popular conservative site The Rebel has also been taken down by it’s domain registrar.

UPDATE: The Rebel seems to be back online for the time being!

The Rebel founder Ezra Levant has refused to name the registrar which took his domain offline and has given him 24 hours to find a new one.

Sort of related, providers MailChimp and EventBrite have removed Milo Yiannopoulos’ accounts.

This is scary as it’s becoming more and more obvious to those of us that land somewhere in the realm of conservative news and commentary has seeing an increase in censorship from far-left organizations. They’re essentially controlling the flow of information, a la 1984, and forcing you to see only what they want you to see.

I think the only fix from this point is for us to begin (and some have) constructing our own versions of these services, truly 1st amendment based services. This is in no way, shape, or form meant to show any support from my end toward white nationalists but the truth is I don’t know if I’m for or against silencing someones speech… to that end, I don’t support Black Lives Matter but don’t think, too, have a right to be heard?

    What do you think?

As reported by The Daily Caller:

Levant refused to identify the domain provider that hosts The Rebel, but told Reuters that the website was given 24 hours’ notice to relocate the domain. He says he was not provided with any explanation for the termination.

“If this was a political censorship decision, it is terrifying – like a phone company telling you it is cancelling your phone number on 24 hours’ notice because it doesn’t like your conversations,” Levant said, adding that the website was now inaccessible to “half of the world.”

The Rebel has come under fire from a former contributor of the website, Caolan Robertson, who claimed in a video that Levant offered him “hush money” to remain silent about the company’s allegedly unethical practices.
