Did You Catch This Tidbit During Oprah’s Golden Globe Speech?

So there’s always been whispers about Oprah running for POTUS. Not necessarily from her, but from her fan base really. She’s never truly seemed to latch onto the idea… until last night.

During her Golden Globe acceptance speech sounded more like a preview of making a run for it, perhaps in 2020… I mean even NBC themselves acknowledged as much via their twitter.

Well, whatever… she can try but I don’t think it will work. She doesn’t have the clout these days. A failed network, magazine… her power isn’t what it use to be. I think the Liberal elite just want it to be true… maybe they think because Trump was a reality star that they can “wow” more of the right to their side in 2020 by doing this…

    Anyway… back to the point.

During her speech, she referenced Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks is the woman who famously refused to give up her seat to a white passenger in 1955. I mean… that’s heavy stuff, and good for her. Even the United States Congress called “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”.

While it’s been suggested that the whole thing was not staged… there is evidence to suggest otherwise. Though Parks did write in her autobiography, “If I had been paying attention,” she wrote, “I wouldn’t even have gotten on that bus.”

Just 9 months prior, Claudette Colvin (15-years-old at the time) had the same exact thing happen – in the same city no less. In fact, Parks was involved in the Colvin case, helping raise money for her defense.

When asked why she is little known and why everyone thinks only of Rosa Parks, Colvin says the NAACP and all the other black organizations felt Parks would be a good icon because “she was an adult. They didn’t think teenagers would be reliable.”

She also says Parks had the right hair and the right look.

“Her skin texture was the kind that people associate with the middle class,” says Colvin. “She fit that profile.”

She was arrested on several charges, in fact. These include violating the city’s segregation laws. For hours, she sat in jail, completely terrified. “I was really afraid because you just didn’t know what white people might do at that time,” Colvin later said. Eventually, her minister paid her bail where she didn’t get any sleep; worried about potential retaliation.

There’s MUCH MORE to the story but I think you get the gist of it. Colvin even says as much… that the organizations felt Parks had the right look. Why is she not herald as the mother of the freedom movement”?
