President Donald Trump had teased about presenting a “fake news awards” saying:

“I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock. Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!”

Now, due to an increased interest in this, he has decided to delay it until the 17th of this month.

“The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday. The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!”

In response, Celebrity chef José Andrés has offered a free lunch at any of his restaurants to the winners (losers) and American Oversight will be handing out “Most Dishonest and Corrupt” to Trump admin officials in a protest response to Trump’s announcement.

In more protest responses, As reported by Politico: “Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” took out a full-page ad in The New York Times with a for-your-consideration appeal along the lines of the pricey campaigns movie studios use to pitch their films and actors for Academy Awards. TBS’ “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” tweeted an ad pushing the show for “shrillest reporting,” and Stephen Colbert hawked his CBS late night show, tweeting that he was “so excited” for the “Fakies” and purchasing a billboard in Times Square.”

So excited for Monday’s “MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR!” See you on the red carpet, @AndersonCooper! #TheFakies pic.twitter.com/r8pYCj0g9r

He’s more than likely postponing it due to POTUS duties as well as an expectation to attend the College Football National Championship game between Alabama and Georgia in Atlanta Monday.

Whatever the reason, The White House is playing it close to the chest. According to Deadline: “At a White House briefing last week, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was tight-lipped about the awards – no PricewaterhouseCoopers rule-explaining here – and declined to confirm that members of the press would be in attendance or how the honors would be decided, handed out, or by whom.”
