House Republican leaders on Tuesday selected many conservative firebrands for the Oversight Committee in the 118th Congress. Seven Democrats from the previous Congress who had their committee assignments revoked are among the elected lawmakers.
Reps. Kelly Armstrong (ND), Lauren Boebert (CO), Tim Burchett (TN), Eric Burlison (MO), Byron Donalds (FL), Chuck Edwards (NC), Russell Fry (SC), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Nick Langworthy (NY), Jake LaTurnout (KY), and Paul Gosar (AZ) make up the Republican majority in the House. They will both be contributing members of the Oversight Committee (R-SC).

According to The Hill, the House Republican conference will vote on whether or not to approve the recommendations of the Steering Committee. Even though “the conference approves the Steering Committee’s ideas consistently,”
Before the 118th Congress took office, the Biden administration clarified that they would not bend to Republican oversight demands.

Representatives Green and Gosar, whose committee assignments had been canceled by Democrats in the previous Congress, have been placed on the Oversight Committee.
The Democratic majority in the House voted to remove Green from her committee assignments one month after she entered office in February 2021 due to the issue involving her social media activities.
House Democrats removed Gosar from his position on the Oversight Committee in November 2021 after he tweeted a controversial video clip in an anime style.
Vice President Biden’s handling of classified documents, the ongoing border and fentanyl crises, the energy crisis, Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, Hunter Biden’s business dealings, and the origins of the coronavirus are all on the list of things the Republican-led Oversight Committee has promised to investigate in the Biden administration.
