It has been reported that “Q Anon Shaman” Jacob Chansley, who was condemned to 41 months in jail in the United States, was released from prison early. On January 6, 2021, there was a brawl in the Capitol Building.
The Daily Mail reported this week that 35-year-old Chansley was released from prison.
Chansley was transferred from the federal correctional facility FCI Stafford in Arizona to community confinement in the Phoenix region, according to a statement from the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) on Thursday, as reported by DailyMail.com. Just under 27 months had passed during her incarceration.
Without providing further details, the spokesperson explained that federal regulations permit sentence reductions for good conduct and the use of halfway houses for the final year of a prisoner’s sentence.
Fox 10 Phoenix reports that Chansley’s lawyer, Bill Shipley, verified the release with a tweet.
His release comes after Fox News host Tucker Carlson aired exclusive, never-before-seen footage of the brawl at the Capitol that he had received from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). McCarthy provided Carlson with roughly 40,000 hours of video and later promised to release it all to the public in an interview with Breitbart News’ Washington bureau head, Matthew Boyle.
Joel Pollak, senior writer for Breitbart News, said:
Carlson demonstrated how the Capitol Police escorted Chansley, whose buffalo-horned costume had become a symbol of the disturbance, through corridors and through open doorways to the Senate floor.
Chansley serves in the United States military. In an interview from behind bars, a former Navy member expressed regret for not realizing he was violating the law when he assisted law enforcement.
According to the Daily Mail, a former federal counsel who was not involved in the case said that the transfer of Chansley seems “kind of routine” according to BOP regulations, making it doubtful that public pressure played any role in the decision.
After admitting guilty to obstructing a government procedure, the AFP has stated that Chansley will be punished in November 2021.
Honest individuals recognize when they’ve done wrong, Chansley informed the judge. I really shouldn’t have entered the Capitol. I was completely innocent of all blame.
To be honest, I don’t consider myself a renegade. A local attacker, Chansley insisted, was not the case.
