During a gathering at the White House for Hispanic heritage, President Trump took an opportunity to remind people that communism cannot be allowed to stand here in America, saying “communism is the past” and “freedom is the future.”
“As I announced before a wonderful crowd in Little Havana earlier this year, we will not lift sanctions on the Cuban regime until it delivers full political freedom for the Cuban people,” Trump said. “The same failed communist ideology that has brought oppression to Cuba has brought nothing but suffering and misery everywhere and everyplace it has been anywhere in the world.”
“Communism is the past; freedom is the future,” Trump said to applause from the audience.
Trump then turned to Venezuela, saying its socialist government is responsible for the South American country’s turmoil.
“We also stand with the people of Venezuela who are suffering under the ruthless socialism of the Maduro regime,” Trump said. “We reject socialist oppression and we call for the restoration of democracy and freedom for the citizens of Venezuela.”
In case you’ve been sleeping during history class, you already know Communism is a failed system and yet we still have people out here trying to push it on us.
As reported by The Epoch Times for
Communist regimes have killed more than 100 million people over the last century, according to “The Black Book of Communism,” published by Harvard University Press in 1999. Other estimates, however, suggest the number killed by communism may be closer to 150 million.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, a renowned Russian novelist and historian, estimated that former Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin killed 60 million people; and in “Mao: The Unknown Story,” historians June Chang and Jon Halliday show Chinese Communist Party leader Mao Zedong was responsible for at least 70 million deaths.
The oppressive ideology of communism is based in atheism and struggle. It works by destroying tradition and belief, and by turning people against each other and manufacturing enemies for people to struggle against.
