Hypocrisy is in the air and it is so thick it can fill your lungs and cause you to choke. Under the previous Democratic position on sexual harassment, Joe Biden is as guilty as sin. Remember Title Nine as interpreted by the Obama/Biden administration? The accuser had all the power and the accused was not allowed a defense at the college hearings. The accused have gone to court and won lawsuits over violations of their constitutional rights.
Then there is the Brett Kavanaugh Inquisition. The accuser had no idea when the alleged attack took place, not even the year. She did not know where it took place and not one of her supposed witnesses confirmed her story, with some directly disputing her story. Furthermore she was caught in several lies and we were supposed to believe her.
Joe Biden has not just been accused of sexual harassment by one woman, the total is currently at nine, including one who was only 14 years old at the time. In another one, he became so aggressive that her husband had to intervene. But now, Biden and the Democrats say it is no longer necessary to believe the woman.
Tara Reade Remembers where and when it happened, She told at least five people about the attack. Her mother called into Larry King and said her daughter was harassed by a prominent Senator. Compared to Christine Blasey Ford, Reade has a mountain of evidence.
Reade was upset by the reactions of Hillary Clinton , Stacey Abrams and Kirsten Gillibrand :
“It was really devastating when [Kirsten] Gillibrand and Stacey Abrams and Hillary Clinton, all on the same day, just basically implied my story wasn’t true and they believe Joe Biden. I can’t describe to you what that felt like.
“I just— I’m stunned. They didn’t just say, ‘Oh, we’re standing with Joe Biden until we hear more.’ They just discounted me. They marginalized me. They said they didn’t believe me. I can’t tell you. I cried for a while because they’re important in my life. They’ve been figures that I looked up to.”
She thought they took this seriously. Little did she know.
This isn’t just about Kavanaugh, though. Andrew Sullivan notes that Biden is guilty as charged according to his own standards, specifically the Star Chamber standards he and Obama set for how claims of sexual assault were to be handled on campus under Title IX. “You can listen to Biden’s strident speeches and rhetoric on this question and find not a single smidgen of concern with the rights of the accused,” Sullivan writes. “Men in college were to be regarded as guilty before being proven innocent, and stripped of basic rights in their self-defense.”
The bill has come due.
