Christopher Janes Kimberley is suing daughter of former President Bill Clinton and failed hopeful Hillary Clinton, Chelsea, for allegedly “ripping off” the idea for her book “She Persisted” from him.
Kimberley is seeking upwards of $150,000 in damages as well as any profits from the book, which was apparently a New York Times best seller.
I feel like the NYT’s must have really lowered the bar there…
After learning about her book he started to immediately see similarities between it and a submission obtained by Penguin Young Readers US, Jennifer Loja.
Does this surprise you at all? I mean really? Kimberley said he wrote an all-ages, three-volume illustrated children’s book ‘A Heart is the Part That Makes Boys And Girls Smart’ in 2013.
“I did months of painstaking research on my book,” the writer told the New York Post. “Her version looks like a ninth-grade homework assignment.”
“I am in disbelief,” he said.
I guess the real issue he’ll have is that he’s talking about quotes from historic figures. Quotes that I’m sure you can find in many other books… dozens, maybe hundreds.
Either way, I guess “he’s persisting” that she ripped him off.

Clinton’s book, published May 30, targets readers ages four to eight, according to its description.
Kimberley’s book contains 15 quotes and stories from historical figures such as Helen Keller, Harriet Tubman and Nellie Bly in its ‘Quotable Questionnaire’ section. Clinton’s book features 13 stories and quotes including those three women.
Kimberley said he sent off his book proposal via Facebook to Penguin Random House but he never heard back.
He accuses the president of Penguin Young Readers US, Jennifer Loja, of receiving the submission, reading it, taking his idea and giving it to Clinton.
