Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s Hardball, took a jab at conservatives and our right to bear arms.
“Well you know what the Republicans say in their platform? The right to bear arms precedes the Constitution. It’s a god-given, sort of theological right. They treat this like religion, Governor. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s a religious, essential notion to them that everybody should have any kind of gun they want.”

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
As written by Cornell, In 1939 the U.S. Supreme Court considered the matter in United States v. Miller. 307 U.S. 174. The Court adopted a collective rights approach, in this case, determining that Congress could regulate a sawed-off shotgun that had moved in interstate commerce under the National Firearms Act of 1934 because the evidence did not suggest that the shotgun “has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a wwell-regulated militia . . . .” The Court then explained that the Framers included the Second Amendment to ensure the effectiveness of the military.
Matthews, here, is clearly just grasping at straws. I don’t know, maybe hoping to generate some buzz (and if so well done) but the Constitution does give us that right; no matter what he or other leftist want. And that right is something we should strive to protect every day.
We even recently reported wrote an article about how tyranny can still happen. saying “Many Liberals spout off some crap about how guns are unnecessary and how “Tyranny” cannot happen in this day and age despite the fact that many, especially those in the alt-left movement, like to compare President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler but they couldn’t be more wrong.”
